COURT ASTRONOMY, ASTROLOGY & DUMLUPINAR
Ottoman court experts known as müneccims worked with calendars, astronomical tables, timekeeping, and astrological interpretation. In the early modern empire, astronomy and astrology were closely intertwined within palace culture. On August 30, 1922, the decisive Battle of Dumlupinar accelerated the political collapse of the old order and marked a major turning point in the empire’s final aftermath.
