On this day in 1543, the inner stronghold of Szekesfehervar surrendered to Suleiman’s army after the outer defenses had fallen. The campaign showed how engineering and conquest worked together. Every captured fortress could be repaired, garrisoned, and woven into the empire’s growing architectural map.
