On the evening of 7 May 2016, members of the Royal Ottoman Society gathered beneath the historic minarets of Nicosia to honor Şeyh Nazım Hazretleri. The day, known as Anma Günü, offered a tender space for remembrance, gratitude, and renewal of our shared commitment to the Naqshbandi‑Qadiri path.
The gathering opened with the call to prayer resonating through the old city walls, followed by a heartfelt recitation of Qur’anic verses. Dressed in traditional Ottoman attire, participants entered circles of zikr and dhikr, letting the rhythmic chants lift the atmosphere into collective contemplation. Elders shared cherished anecdotes about Şeyh Nazım’s boundless compassion—his habit of greeting every visitor with a warm smile, his willingness to sit beside those in need, and his gentle guidance for seekers from all walks of life.
In the ensuing sohbet, the teachings of Şeyh Nazım were brought to life not merely as words but as lived examples. The discussion reminded us that true remembrance blooms through self‑surrender, service to humanity, and the continuous nurturing of our spiritual lineage. As we listened, the wisdom of the master encouraged each heart to embody mercy in everyday encounters.
The evening concluded with a communal meal where tea, sweets, and stories were shared around a table that spanned generations and borders. The light of Şeyh Nazım’s teachings lingered long after the gathering, inspiring us to carry serenity and compassion into our daily lives.
We welcome all who feel drawn to this living heritage to connect with our community and partake in future gatherings. Learn more about upcoming events and join the conversation at our Community page.
