In this reflective talk, we explore a vivid prophetic scenario that connects the historic spirit of the Ottoman Empire with the awaited appearance of Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him). The discussion outlines a series of upheavals—a global catastrophe, nuclear conflict, and mass bloodshed—that would plunge humanity into deep despair. At the height of this darkness, a banner is said to rise in Bosnia under the leadership of “the fourth Sultan Selim,” gathering forces to defend Istanbul against an occupying power—whether Russian or American. This second conquest of Constantinople, foretold in hadith as Şark‑ı Roma (the East of Rome) being captured again, would set the stage for Imam Mahdi’s arrival to halt the war.
According to the narrative shared, the banner carried by Bosnian believers would be received by a revered figure at Eyüp Sultan’s shrine. From there the prophetic sword of the Prophet (peace be upon him) would pass through a chain of custodians—first from the Ottoman lineage, then to Imam Mahdi, and finally to Isa (A.S.)—symbolizing the restoration of divine justice. The emphasis on Bosnia underscores its strategic role in this eschatological plan; it is portrayed as the crucible where the forces that will support the Mahdi are forged.
The talk invites us to contemplate how our own dedication to the Ottoman heritage can align with these timeless prophecies. By preserving the spiritual teachings, ethical values, and communal solidarity embodied by the Ottoman Sufi tradition, we become part of a living legacy that may one day assist in bringing about peace and divine guidance. The Royal Ottoman Society encourages seekers to deepen their connection with this lineage through regular study, zikr, and participation in our gatherings.
