In a recent gathering, the Royal Ottoman Society had the privilege of listening to a heartfelt musical offering from two beloved guides of our tradition: Sheikh Bahauddin Efendi and Ayberk Efendi. Together they unveiled “Ya Selam,” a newly composed piece that weaves together melodic devotion with the timeless names of Allah.
The duet opens with a resonant chant, repeatedly invoking attributes such as Al‑Daim, Al‑Hafiz, Al‑Kerim and Al‑Latif. Each utterance becomes a living zikr, inviting listeners to attune their hearts to divine mercy and protection. The interlacing of the two voices creates a luminous dialogue—one that mirrors the spiritual conversation between seeker and guide, between the individual soul and the All‑Merciful.
