On the second day of Muharram 1439, corresponding to 22 September 2017, a heartfelt address was delivered that called our Ummah back to the original spirit of Hijra. The talk opened with praise to Allah, His Messenger, the companions and the saints, and then turned to the present moment: today roughly two billion Muslims share this earth, yet many feel the weight of oppression, division, and silent complacency. By reminding us that we have entered a new Hijri year quietly, the speaker invited every believer to awaken to the deeper meaning of migration—not merely as a historical event, but as the seed planted by the Prophet (peace be upon him) for justice, peace and spiritual purpose to blossom across the world.
Hijra was portrayed as the living foundation of Islam: a seed sown on the soil of faith that must be tended with effort, courage and unity. Without grasping this core principle, we risk misunderstanding the Messenger, the Divine purpose, and our own mission on earth. The address highlighted the need for personal striving—renewed intention, active service to families and communities, and resistance against tyranny that whips the vulnerable. It also warned against the distractions of modern media, petty disputes and false allegiances that pull us away from the Prophet’s original call.
Concluding with a sincere plea for collective renewal, the talk urged believers to gather, set aside trivial criticisms, and support one another through prayer, education and charity. By internalising the lessons of Hijra, we can align our earthly mission with divine intention and move toward lasting spiritual fulfillment.
