We greet our brothers and sisters with peace and gratitude as the blessed month of Ramadan draws to a close, soon followed by the celebration of Eid al‑Adha. This year, under the guidance of Sheikh Nazım Efendi’s lodges, we are organizing a widespread Kurban distribution that will reach five African nations. The aim is simple yet profound: to ensure that every family receives its share of sacrifice in time for the festival, allowing the act of giving to become a bridge across the Sirat.
During recent field work our volunteers witnessed a poignant scene that captures the urgency of our mission. In one village a man—affiliated with another charitable group—held a single piece of candy (luçar) in his mouth while dozens of children gathered around, eyes fixed on it. When he tossed the candy into the sand, hundreds of eager youngsters scrambled through the dust to retrieve it, each hoping for just a morsel. The image reminded us how even a modest offering can spark fierce competition when scarcity prevails. It is a stark illustration of the hardship faced by many families who rely on our support.
From this observation we feel compelled to act with humility and swiftness. Rather than waiting until the last day of Eid, we encourage all members to arrange their delegations in advance. By assigning trusted representatives now, preparations can be completed early, preventing the rush that often leaves some without meat. This proactive approach not only fulfills our religious duty but also strengthens the bonds of unity and compassion that define our community.
