As the blessed days of Eid al‑Fitr arrive, we share the heartfelt greeting that Sheikh Bahauddin Adil Efendi recorded for our community in 2021. In his brief but sincere address he repeats the opening Surah Al‑Fatiha, invoking divine blessings and asking that Allah make this Bayram a time of happiness for all believers.
“May Allah make this Eid happy and allow us to reach Ramadan again next year, insha’Allah, and grant us another blessed Eid. May Bayram be filled with joy for everyone. Al‑Fatiha… Al‑Fatiha…”
The repetition of Al‑Fatiha underscores the central role of the opening chapter of the Qur’an in every act of worship: it is a prayer for guidance, mercy and the opening of hearts. By beginning his Eid message with this surah, Sheikh Bahauddin reminds us that our celebrations are rooted in gratitude to the One who has opened the doors of mercy for us.
Eid al‑Fitr marks the culmination of Ramadan’s fast‑breaking devotion, a moment when the spiritual work of self‑purification meets communal joy. In the Sufi tradition upheld by the Royal Ottoman Society, this transition is an invitation to turn inward once more—reflecting on the inner light that has been kindled throughout the month and sharing that illumination with family, friends, and neighbours.
We encourage every member of our community to:
- Recite Al‑Fatiha or another Qur’anic chapter as part of the Eid prayer,
- Offer sincere gratitude for the blessings received during Ramadan,
- Extend generosity to those in need, embodying the spirit of sadaka that sustains our shared path.
May this Bayram bring peace, health, and renewed spiritual vigor to each of you. If you feel moved to deepen your connection with the Ottoman Sufi heritage or wish to support our ongoing work, consider becoming a member of the Royal Ottoman Society — join us here.
We also invite you to stay connected with fellow seekers through our online community platform: Royal Ottoman Society Community page. May Allah accept our prayers and grant us many more joyful Eids. Eid Mubarak!
