Ayberk Efendi explained that just as merchants weigh iron, nails, and even bread before sale, the Divine Scale will one day assess our inner and outer actions. Every spoken phrase carries weight—heavy words settle like stones, while fleeting, light remarks drift without impact. Likewise, each step we take is counted; the great traveler Evliya Çelebi famously recorded the exact number of steps around fortresses and across rivers, illustrating how even physical movement is subject to measurement.
The sermon emphasized that accountability extends beyond human judgment. While we cannot ask Allah “why” or “how,” He alone possesses the right to question us about every excess or shortfall in our journey. If we were instructed to advance ten steps forward but only moved five, the Divine will inquire about those missing steps and assess the balance of our effort.
Through vivid analogies—such as a market weighing iron at the balhoz (scale house) and the notion that empty deeds add no weight—the talk urged us to live with consciousness of this ever‑present scale. Our service, kindness, and sincerity become the material weighed on the Day of Judgment, determining whether we are measured in lightness or heaviness.
May Allah guide us to act with deliberation, to speak words that carry beneficial weight, and to walk each path with mindful steps, so that when the Divine Scale is revealed, we find ourselves among those whose deeds are counted as blessings.
