On March 12 2016 the Royal Ottoman Society gathered at the historic Pfalzbau theater in Ludwigshafen for the seventh evening of our “Ottoman Sufi Night” series. The hall was filled with the soft glow of lanterns, the scent of incense, and a palpable sense of anticipation as members and friends came together to experience a night devoted to the living tradition of Ottoman‑rooted Sufism.
A Spiritual Gathering in the Heart of Ludwigshafen
The Pfalzbau’s elegant stage provided a fitting backdrop for a program that blended classical Ottoman poetry, devotional music, and heartfelt sohbet. Sheikh Bahauddin Adil led the evening with his characteristic warmth, inviting participants to pause, breathe, and turn their hearts toward the Divine presence that underlies every moment. Throughout the night the audience was encouraged to join in gentle dhikr, allowing the rhythm of breath and mantra to open a space for inner stillness.
Sheikh Bahauddin Adil’s Guidance
Sheikh Bahauddin’s talk wove together timeless Sufi teachings with reflections on contemporary life. He reminded us that the path is not a distant destination but an ongoing practice of love, humility, and service. By recalling verses from renowned Ottoman mystics such as Yunus Emre and Hacı Bektaş‑Veli, he illustrated how the poetic language of our heritage continues to speak directly to modern hearts seeking meaning.
The evening concluded with a collective recitation of the “Bismillah” and a heartfelt prayer for peace in the world. Many participants reported feeling a renewed sense of purpose and connection—not only to the Ottoman spiritual lineage but also to one another as members of a living community.
We are grateful to everyone who shared this night of devotion, music, and reflection. If you feel drawn to experience future gatherings or wish to deepen your practice within the Sufi tradition, we invite you to join our community at https://royalottomans.com/community/.
