In this brief yet powerful teaching we reflect on a prophetic tradition that measures the lifespan of our community in divine time. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if the ummah remains upon guidance it will have “one day,” and if it strays, “half a day.” Since one day before Allah is likened to a thousand earthly years, the allotted span for the ummah amounts to one‑and‑a‑half days—1500 years. According to the Islamic lunar calendar we are now in the year 1447, which means roughly fifty‑three years remain before the final hour.
Within those remaining decades the signs of the End Times continue to unfold. The awaited appearance of Imam Mahdi is foretold to bring a period of righteous leadership lasting seven years, followed by the return of Prophet ʿĪsā (Jesus), whose reign is said to extend for forty years. Together these eras account for 47 of the final 53 years, leaving only a few fleeting moments before the Day of Judgment. The question before us, therefore, is not merely intellectual—it is an invitation to ready our hearts, deepen our devotion, and renew our collective commitment to the path of truth.
