In this brief reflection we are reminded that great empires often arise from the smallest of beginnings. When the Seljuk Sultanate faced the looming threat of the Mongols, a modest frontier band led by Ertuğrul Gazi answered the call. Their tribe—men, women, children, and tents—was scarcely more than a few hundred souls, lightly equipped but unwavering in loyalty. Impressed by their courage, Sultan Aladdin Kaykabat granted them a stretch of frontier land that would become the seedbed for future greatness. From this modest foothold emerged Osman Gazi, who founded the Ottoman Empire, an entity that eventually spanned three continents. The story shows that purpose, not numbers, fuels lasting transformation.
