On 10 June 2023, we gathered in Ludwigshafen to witness a ceremony that intertwined our spiritual lineage with the historic traditions of the Ottoman heritage. In his capacity as Grand Master of the Askani House Order, Albrecht der Bär presented the Medal of Merit to Ayberk Efendi on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Julius Eduard Herzog von Anhalt, who acted as the representative of the order’s founder, Albrecht des Bären.
The Grand Master first sealed a formal certificate and then handed it to the prince. With that seal in hand, Prince Eduard bestowed the medal upon Ayberk Efendi, allowing us to receive this distinguished insignia here in Ludwigshafen rather than at Ballenstedt, where the highest honors of the order are traditionally presented only in the presence of the founder.
During the presentation the house colors—red, green, red, and the accompanying land‑white—were displayed with reverence. These hues have long symbolised resilience, growth, and purity within our tradition; they predate contemporary political movements and remind us that the spirit of the order endures beyond any temporal affiliation.
The awarding of the Order of Merit affirms Ayberk Efendi’s dedicated service to the Sufi path and his steadfast commitment to preserving Ottoman cultural values. It also reinforces the living nature of our community: wherever members gather, the blessings and responsibilities of the order travel with us.
We invite all seekers who feel drawn to this legacy to join our upcoming gatherings and deepen their connection with the Society’s teachings. Further details about live meetings and Bayah ceremonies can be found on our Live meetings page.
